And now my favorite of the evening...

'i would've been christian, but i observed christians' - ghandi

2003-11-11 09:12:40 ET

I'm such a sucker for great quotes. Here is one of my favorites:
Nothing is more revolting than the majority; for it consists of few vigorous predecessors, of knaves who accommodate themselves, of weak people who assimilate themselves, and the mass that toddles after them without knowing in the least what it wants. Goethe
Goethe always knew how to stick it to people, as did Mark Twain.

2003-11-11 10:29:18 ET

Neon - hehehe... de nada seniorita.

Gabriel - I really really like that one from Gandhi.

DanPratt - oooh... I like Goethe. I don't know why I didn't put any of his more social commentary statements. I have the quote about seeing beauty in the world but he's got a lot more fun ones.

I wanted a balanced list. The next one I put together will have some "fun" ones.

2003-11-11 10:39:24 ET

Ooops... forgot to add some that didn't make the list but really wanted to:

Ernest Hemingway once wrote "The world is a fine place and worth fighting for."
I agree with the second part.

-Morgan Freeman Se7en

"I (will) hurl words into this darkness and wait for an echo, and if an echo sound(s), no matter how faintly, I (will) send other words to tell, to march, to fight, to create a sense of hunger for life that gnaws in us all, to keep alive in our hearts a sense of the inexpressibly human."
-Richard Wright

"A guy told me one time 'don't let yourself get attached to anything that you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat coming around the corner.'"
-Robert DeNiro Heat

"Laying in bed tonight I was thinking and listening to all the dogs and the sirens and the shots
And how a careful man tries to dodge the bullets
While a happy man takes a walk

And maybe it's time to live"

-Eels "P.S. You Rock My World"

"What makes you mad is not that you had it so bad, it's that you're that pissed that some people had it that good."
-Jack Nicholson As Good As It Gets

These would have made the list if it hadn't been for the fact that I didn't want to cause too much variation in the list. Even though Richard Wright is one of my favorite authors and I could go all day with song lyrics.

2003-11-11 10:42:42 ET

Richard Wright is one of my favorite authors too; Black Boy is one of my top favorite books.

2003-11-11 10:50:27 ET

THAT BOOK CHANGED MY LIFE!

It just captured so much of what I want to say... what I want to do with my existence. Reading the line that I put on that post made me want to pursue writing and really inspired me to test the limits of the social boundaries around me.

Oh... I really really really like your photography. Very nice views. Good lighting and great angles. I'm a fan.

2003-11-11 10:59:41 ET

Thanks, dude!
Black Boy was a book I could not put down. I read it a few years back now (I was 16 when I read it....and I'm 23 now...holy crap; that's actually a while ago!) but I still remember so much about it and what an amazing story it was. I actually recommended it to a woman I was working with in Belgrade this summer, and she like could not get over how good it was!; I love when a book can transend cultures because of it's universal truths.
I should read it over again, now that I realize how long it has been.

2003-11-11 13:55:51 ET

sounds like a good book O_o
i should try to find it O_o

2003-11-11 20:08:42 ET

2003-11-12 14:26:08 ET

WE'VE BEEN OVER THIS!!! *tackles Neko and tickles*

2003-11-12 14:31:31 ET

I'm NOT half as beautiful as I am intellectual. And I'm not being modest. *crosses arms stubbornly*

YOU PEOPLE AND YOUR CARING OF ATTRACTIVENESS!!! *shakes fist*

2003-11-12 14:46:16 ET

What's that for!?!!?! I didn't make a big deal about your beauty...

I just made the statement "You are Freaky Deaky and Beautiful"... Beauty isn't skin deep... so shake your fist all you want but I will say it nonetheless. *tries to look serious*

2003-11-12 14:58:08 ET
