This is the kind of poem I've always wanted to write but never could. I'm really proud of this one. I hope you all like it.
"Clearly a Tangled Voice"
Blinking light from every pore
The brightness that is you lights my way
Not even the stars can compare
On the edge of night
It is you that sheds light on my dreams
You that reminds me of every smile drawn
Every happy memory brought out by you
It is strange how I replay our encounters in my mind
Like I missed something overlooked
And I'm afraid of forgetting
Never thought I'd react in such a way
Let alone allow myself a second more than I need
To apply these dreams and fantasies to you
To wish for something in me for you
To give every word a second thought
Like a second lost rather than a second found
Stuttering on the word and flowing on the page
Can you see what I am wanting?
Because everything sounds better in your voice
Your words and your thought
You are the want I have read for a generation
Like a muse for Dante and Vergil called upon but never came
A song from Buckley and Lennon that was never made
The lines that Shakespeare thought but couldn't make rhyme
And the strokes that Dali could never use to melt time
You are my lillies
You are my starry night
My cafe at night under a Paris skyline
With cellos harmonizing the cricket's chirp
The sounds of Bach losing themselves in the night sky
Just as I'm afraid of losing the thought
Losing the dream
The moment made up of seconds
Until I know the meaning of your name upon my lips
And until then I will dream of soft brush strokes
And a swirling of emotion in the palette of my mind
On the easel of my slumber
Well let me know what you think.
