Once upon a midnight dreary (noonish, actually)
while I pondered, weak and weary (hungover)
over many quaint and curious volumes of forgotten lore (teh interweb)
While I nodded, nearly napping, (passing out)
suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
`'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my balcony door(?!!) -
Only this, and nothing more.'
Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
There I noticed a little birdie had crashed into my balcony door.
Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my balcony floor-
Perched upon a dusty sofa just above my balcony floor -
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.
