Brown Paper Bar
2004-01-05 17:31:29 ET

here i hide my face
my grotesque body
and shattered heart
under this bag
and all its brown
i fear

i fear
what your saying is true
that one day I'll be worse than you
under my bag
my face i'll hide
away from the world

my father never helped
my teachers are a joke
why is there a world
where i must hide
with nothing but hell

where shall i go?
how many pounds do i have to lose
to make you love me
i'll be surrounded by black
by the time i do
die.

my heart will be too big
and my laughter unheard
my head cannot hold
under this paper bag i work
under this brown paper bag i hide
i hate myself.

I thought that was such an awesome poem when I first read it.

Well it is. Just some things in it are different. Things are different.

We aren't us, so it has a different meaning. It creates different feelings now.

the poem is about hating myself? how does that relate to us?

Nevermind, I can't explain it.

okay fine

It's hard to explain. Like I feel I helped you realize what a wonderfully beautiful person you are. Both inside and out. And I'm not sure how to say it... hmm.. I'll try to organize my thoughts.
