Today was AWESOMETACULAR.
I went to G.E.B.B.C.A. (Greater East Bay Barbering and Cosmetology Apprentices) and registered for class...I start in August, but I have my orientation in a couple of weeks. Although, their copier was down, so I have to go back and give them a copy of my picture ID...which is my passport, atm, cuz I've been lazy about getting my state ID renewed...dammit...it's just a state ID...it shouldn't expire...I'll have to go check out how to do that in a minute.
Anyhow, I'm confident I made the right decision. It's right near where we were shooting for Jon Doe in the City, and, like...seriously, three or four blocks from BARTfart :] I told her about the two salons I had in mind, and she said that one of them, Festoon, is a *very* good salon to get apprenticed at. She said that there are two or three students that are apprenticing there, now, and everyone who's come out of there has been uber happy about it. Apparently, the manager who handles all the apprenticeships graduated from G.E.B.B.C.A. which makes me optomistic about my future after going to this school. She *also* said that if I want to apprentice there, they will take me. SO excited....yay :]
When I got to my parents' house, my mom and I had lunch and chatted until my dad got home from work...and thennnn...CHARLIE CHAPLIN!!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!
I'ma gonna have to buy me some Charlie Chaplin films...anyone who's interested should check out Charlie Chaplin's Essanay Comedies. They're awesome. I don't agree with some of the remastering (they tinted it to make the lightling look different when switching from inside to outside, etc), but the music was done by someone who wanted to keep the air of the silent film, which was refreshing, because I also rented a couple of videos from another collection of Chaplin films and they added some poppy jazz and not really authentic silent film music, and it really took away from the films. But, ofcourse, one gets used to it after a while...cuz, hey...it's Chaplin. You gotsta :] I promised my dad I would bring over Buster Keaton next time I come home for dinner :] FINALLY! I've found something my father and I have in common and can *do* together!!!! ::excited:: I love my dad immenseley, but we are two very different people, and it's hard to find stuff to talk about with him. I'm so glad we've found something we can do together :]
Whelp...me and my excited self are gonna do some not-so-exciting homework...YAY!! :P |
