Quick Question to all...

Measure o all Things 2007-11-14 22:15:27 ET I'd really like to upload a picture of a microphone so I can get rid of that picture of a baby that's currently my avatar, but I don't have one of my own, and I don't want to get my account deleted by downloading something off the internet, so any suggestions? Does anybody know of a site with non-copyrighted pics or something?

Liquid Jade 2007-11-15 01:35:06 ET I don't think you'll get deleted by downloading something off the internet. ;) I've never tried it, but a lot of people have avatars that are not their own photos on here.

The Statutory Ape 2007-11-15 02:17:13 ET i was deleted once for it. i think its mainly a problem if the pic is obviously not yours. to be on the safe side you can grab a pic online then alter it in a graphics program. crop it and change the colours or put some sort of distortion on it.

m0xie 2007-11-15 14:02:16 ET Actually, altering a copyright picture doesn't make it any less copyright. But, realistically speaking, I've relaxed in my old age. Unless the image is something that is obviously well-recognized as something copyright and the likelihood that I'd get contacted about such a picture is great, I really don't care.

The Statutory Ape 2007-11-15 15:33:25 ET really? i knew the '10%' rule i heard back when was bs but i thought any image sufficiently altered was no longer considered the original. i guess in any case it wont likely be recognized at the least.
