My moms scary basement story..
2004-11-14 18:00:52 ET

ok it's not a story...it really happened. haha..and it's not scary to everyone some people will find it more comical (like me)

So mom is down in our basement (it's a new basement and only 1/2 finished so when you come down the stairs to the left there is a crawl space...theres about 2-3 foot between the floor and the "ceiling" there) anyway...she's up in the crawl space to go looking for evidence of mice and get down our Christmas containers.

So she's going through stuff and moving stuff around and she pulls back some of the plastic and she finds a dead mouse..ewww. so there's her freak out no 1.

she gets that taken care of and continues on her way. starts moving more stuff and sees something move out of the corner of her eye..turns and looks..there is a spider, bout 2 in in diameter sitting there, and around it are about 4-5 other spiders that take off when they see her move..BIG FREAK OUT. so the big spider takes off too and they all go behind our insulation down there. but one of them kinda lingers, it was a big one too, mom said it looked like a wasps body on a spider..i tried to look it up but i haven't foudn it yet. so she grabs her spider spray stuff and sprays this spider til it's pretty much swimming in the bug spray. it stops moving and she sets down the spray and goes back to work figuring it's dead.

soon as she goes back to work....it takes off!!! WTF?! so she grabs teh spray again and sprays it even more until it curls up like they normally do when they die. so she goes on with her business and there it goes again, damn thing still wasn't dead but this time it made it behind the insulation before she could spray it any more.

so we've decided to price exterminators for while we are gone over thanksgiving break..cause...that's not cool.

edit:
didn't include the funny part haha.

mom calls me..freaking out
"Natasha you have to come home right now I found a dead mouse. That's your job, you have to deal with dead stuff not me" then she tells me the spider story.

even funnier is that she called my Oma, her sister, and Melissa to tell them all about what happened ..*shakes head*

OMG! that is freaking scary! Im not afraid of spiders or anything, but staring em in the face is another thing. Espcially the blasted immortal spiders....heheh i can hardly type right now bc of the mental image i got of that happening to ur mom.....heheh

Tell your mom to take a lighter with her spider spray next time she goes in there..heheh instant flame thrower :D. Damn Zombie Spiders..... *Cracks up again*

I feel your pain about being the keeper of the dead so to speak...everytime something dies on the farm its my job to take it off for some reason.....bad part is, its usually something like a horse or something.

*cracks up* i cant help it..i just get this weird image of the spider bolting around that lil crawl space in ur basment...... AHAHAHAHAH

2004-11-14 18:11:50 ET

hehe and the even funnier image is of mom up in that crawl space half standing up trying to get away from the spiders haha.

and it's only my job now because of me wanting to do criminalistics..so now i've been designated the dead cleaner-uper haha

2004-11-14 18:12:12 ET

The spider thing sounds FUCKING SCARY!

2004-11-14 18:15:30 ET

yeah and just so happened that that day here at school i picked up my hair dryer and one fell on my arm..took me about 10 min to calm down and turn my hair dryer back on haha once you see one you feel like they are all over you.

and the ones here at school are white so they blend in with the walls and curtains

2004-11-14 18:23:18 ET

uhm... a body like a wasp... i know brown recluses have bodies sort of like wasps... but i really don't know how 'big' they get... so tell her to be careful if she decides to get up in that crawl space again!!...

remember that... when i slept on the couch down there... i kept staring in it for some odd reason O_o

2004-11-14 18:24:13 ET

brown recluses don't look anything like the one mom described i've seen enough of those hehe..and they get really big

2004-11-14 18:25:03 ET

*covers mouth to kepe from laughing at imagry* heheh

I had a similar incident once...i was in our garage looking for something....and all of a sudden this huge brown fuzzy spider bolted from under a counter, at like 30 mph. I jumped bc it surprised me, and then i grabbed a can of wd40 and started chasing it across out garage....and then back across out garage.....20 mins and 2 cans of wd40 later, i gave up.....lol.
I swear that thing kept coming back to life. lol

2004-11-14 18:27:32 ET

that was prolly a brown recluse..they are brown and fuzzy and lke the dark. that's why it's always smart to turn on lights up to 30 min before you go into a place like that *nodnod*

2004-11-14 18:32:45 ET

ahhh... we have mostly black widows around here... i don't see but a few recluses here and there... so my mental image of them is blurry...
haha... but i've killed soooo many black widows... some of my dreams are killing black widows... tis sad :'(

2004-11-14 18:36:04 ET

Tash: I dunno what it was, but that was a hella workout..those mofos can run..lol.

Gabe: i came face to face with a black widow once...scared me to death.

2004-11-14 18:45:11 ET

2004-11-14 18:56:32 ET

2004-11-14 19:01:52 ET

2004-11-14 19:22:19 ET

spider dreams are not goodness.

2004-11-14 19:56:29 ET

yea... i've had some pretty close calls with some black widows... like turnin' on lights downstairs and 'em hangin' right above the switch... that scared the shit out of me...
(they're all in the basement...)

2004-11-15 11:44:40 ET

*holds up a bug bomb gernade* Ill help you friend Gabe *runs to gabes basement door, pull pin of gernade with his teeth, opens door and thows in the bug bomb* YAR!

2004-11-21 15:03:32 ET

one day i've counted just shy of 40 black widows... mostly around the house... just a few inside... luckily they stick to rocks usually...

we do need to bug bomb the basement though... but nowhere to go durin' that time O_o

2004-11-22 05:38:47 ET

good lord! 40!? yeah, u do need to bug bomb the hell outta that house man! Pitch a tent in the front yard and camp out for a while man, that beats having your life threatened by black widows.

2004-11-23 06:45:03 ET

ehhh they all in the basement... and there are just as many outside under rocks and shit haha
