bettieworshiper 2004-04-30 12:37:51 ET I found the general designs for my first tattoo....yay! anyway i am getting my middle name in arabic tattooed on my left arm/shoulder. at first you think "thats sillly, why the fuck would you get it done in arabic?" but it is arabic already...soo there anyway.... It is derived from one of the 99 names (I will explain if needed) #88 Al-Ghani, but it is the female version Ghania Al-Ghani means the self sufficient of the rich one technically Ghania means beautiful but my parents meant it to mean self suffcient this is a painting i found of al-ghani and this is my actual name, Ghania, in regular print so suggetions? art ideas?

minkybear 2004-04-30 13:42:00 ET DUUUUDE. i'm persian. i'm eventually gonna get my name (which is kurdish...you know, the kurds) tatted on me (in farsi, but close to the 'rabic). i say just get it done in black, perhaps as just outlines of letters...and then you can fill in later, or leave as just outline. also, look into arabic caligraphy. tends to be pretty different than just the standard print. there are apparently two or three different ways to write it out. um...yeah, we'll talk and such. i don't have thoughts right now, my brain needs more diet coke.

minkybear 2004-04-30 18:26:42 ET look in the yellowpages (or online) for arabic caligraphers. then maybe you can see Ghania written in non-print form. or, commsion them to make you something. for a small fee, you could probably get something amazing. and tell them what you want. show them the example, but say "i want it like this, but saying this". they should be able to do it, if they have any credibility.
