i took the red pill
2002-10-20 09:56:01 ET

last night i made ferocious stompy on the gravers at Albion/Batcave. *props to Insomnia for making us pasta beforehand... they played maybe 6 songs that were good.. okay maybe 8.. someone came up to me and said 'oh my GOD. you're jersey-stepping aren't you?'... if you dont know what jersey stepping is its hard to describe, but it is clearly the superior kind of stompy dance, and rare outside of new jersey. i felt all warm and fuzzy like i was part of something bigger than myself for about half a second.

thanks to Furax and Biomechanic for making sure my inebriated self didnt get into too much trouble, and thanks to Azraeltrigger for calling me earlier that night *that was a nice surprise btw azrael feel free to call me whenever you're bored.. brooklyn reprazent* also great thanks to azrael for enabling my inebriation to begin with as i am as always short on funds. ("oh my god. this is the best beer i've ever had in my life.")

i got a ride home from Mikey and the Borg... drove the Borg home to Jersey.. it is so beautiful out there.. all abandoned factories etc... it was actually the highlight of the night getting to drive through it *yes i know i'm sick* for more on my feelings about jersey & the industrial aesthetic go here

http://www.subkultures.net/death+by+design?readjid=220701

i made up some LIES to speed up the roommate situation remedying *more info see Insomnia's page...

Trying to get organized.. i have several things to do today... most of them creative, which means i'm postponing them as long as possible... two of them require drawing (which i used to be good at but am now terrified of) and one involves music *see also: fear of drawing*...

I picked a tentative date to take my SAT. if my score is high enough hopefully Baruch will overlook that my application will be arriving a tad bit late.

::listening to / gridlock - 5.25::

**btw azrael sorry i tried to say goodbye b/c someone offered me a ride home around like 3 or so and i wasnt sure if i was up to taking the subway. i looked around for you but i guess you disappeared*

***also FURAX i really mean it thanks for showing up last night it was really good to see you again.. i mean that... I MISS FURAX!!!!!!!! 'you dont miss me baby you just miss my tokens...' *in jokes r0x0r*

2002-10-20 10:02:29 ET

If I don't like it there ... why do I keep going?
:[

2002-10-20 10:16:49 ET

Jersey is superior... if by superior, you actually mean shite. ;)

Well, I'll admit it's purdy, but the people there ruin it for me.

And the jersey rivet 2-step was all the rage in NYC.... in 1996. All the people who were doing it back then are listening to IDM and not dancing at all these days. heh.

sounds like a fun night at B@cave, if i had not been haveing das ub3rdate, I would have come. alas, next time.

2002-10-20 10:24:10 ET

too bad i was in junior high back in 1996. am i not supposed to enjoy something because someone else enjoyed it somewhere else first? am i not supposed to call it the 'jersey step' even though thats my primary association with it? maybe i'm supposed to call it the "all the EBM NYC kids who were better than me while i was stuck in nowheresville florida back in 1996" step.

and Bio: i go because of my friends , silly; you guys rock...plus we cant go to mi7 b/c we're jailbait so its not really our fault

das ub3rdate huh. i wonder what that entails...

2002-10-20 10:28:55 ET

Damn Jersey kids Jersey-stepping to all those Leætherstrip rip offs.

2002-10-20 10:36:31 ET

I'm just sayin' that Jersey is not the originator of this dance, aight? You can call it whatever you like, but it moved to the suburbs after living in the city, and I thought you should know. I know you like the jersy industrial scene, (there are certain things you like that I just DO NOT understand why you like them) but I wanted to make sure NYC got the credit it was due.

And of course noone blames you for being stuck in florida when you were 13. Just want a little respect, it's bad enough those Jersey wankers assume they're better than me because I don't go to their little hole in the wall every week. It really bothers me when I'm made to feel inferior by someone whose opinion I actually give a rats ass about.

Hell, I <3 1996 Batcave, and I want it back. QXT's would be a bit like that if I knew anyone there besides you and Prusik, but I can't invest myself in a new club, takes too long to adapt, yanno?

2002-10-20 10:36:57 ET

<3's Bio. And <3's Aslan Faction *they put da rivet i derivative*.. and oh yeah.. <3's the c0q. <3's it.

2002-10-20 10:37:34 ET

>Damn Jersey kids Jersey-stepping to all those Leætherstrip rip offs.

FARCE.

2002-10-20 10:40:51 ET

now you're ripping off bio. cant you see that the rip-off is a rivet tradition?

2002-10-20 11:00:50 ET

<3's dbd. <3's it.

P.S. I ripped off sub_divide.

2002-10-20 11:06:14 ET

hehehe people say dc'ers dance differently too, but i dont know since i haven't been at a club outside of dc.

2002-10-20 11:23:01 ET

New York can invent whatever they like, but I went back to San Diego last January and got spotted at a club and asked if I was from NJ just because of how I danced. So there. Jersey dance it is now.

Aslan Faction: Forced Bleeding is my new. . .um. . . I can't tell you. .. song. . .

2002-10-20 11:33:40 ET

ohhhhhhhhhh and Chris.. on the rediscovery of your forefathers music etc... if its new to me its still new. thats why i buy used books used cds and date used boi's. hey, its new to me.

and the fact that my 2nd favorite book 'the portrait of dorian gray' was written about 100 years ago doesnt make my right to enjoy it any less. as a matter of fact last time i checked, thats a sign of timelessness, of artistic *ahem* QUALITY to retain its potency through time.

Love ya.

2002-10-20 11:37:00 ET

ahhhhhhhha used bois... that rocks. I wouldn't want unused boys. How boring! I like used ones. As long as they're not tooo used. . . or currently still being used. .. you know.

And yeah, should I not study Medieval literature? If I restricted myself to only liking things produced recently, I'd be one bored girl .. .

2002-10-20 11:38:08 ET

hey you can be used and useful at the same time

**bops head to cybernetic fuckheadz**

2002-10-20 11:38:44 ET

Hey, old shit is good! I want 1996 back, remember?

My issue was that nobody was DOING anything new. If old bands sound old, that's fine. If people who were 12 when SP's Cleanse, Fold and Manipulate came out pick it up and dance to it, that rocks. When people who were 12 when that album came out, put out an album that sounds just like it, that sucks ass. you make it sound like I think old things suck, when quite the opposite is true. Other than few exceptions (Negative Format, NCC, Dubok, Dismantled maybe one or two others), all new industrial/EBM bands of the past 4 years are lame boring sucky shite.

INSOMNIA: New York can invent whatever they like, but I went back to San Diego last January and got spotted at a club and asked if I was from NJ just because of how I danced. So there. Jersey dance it is now.

Maybe they thought you were spastic, like Jersey people usually are. ;) (j/k, u know i love ya)

DEATH BY DESIGN: **bops head to cybernetic fuckheadz**

I've never heard whatever it is you're listening to, but that has got ot be the dumbest fucking song title of all time!!!

2002-10-20 12:28:08 ET

Cybernetik:Fuckheadz = Noisex side project (done with another noise guy don't recall who)... they have a song called Cockknocker... heh kick ass.

2002-10-20 12:31:21 ET

Cybernetic:Fuckheadz is Raoul of Noisex and Patrick Stevens of Hypnoskull/Sonar/Tunnel,etc.. fame.

It's actually an interesting combination of jungle, hardcore, drum n bass, and noise.

CYBERNETIC:FUCKHEADZ GONNA ERASE DOKTOR242'S SOUL!

Their song on the Maschinenfest2k1 comp is called knockcocker.

People ask me if I'm from Jersey all the time.

2002-10-20 13:01:36 ET

Hrm, that sounds like something i'd really enjoy. I'll have to check it out.

2002-10-20 13:24:52 ET
