Well I guess that it has been a good 6 month vacation....

Quinten finally got out of the military. It's been so nice to have him home and see him every day. Unfortunately it looks as though he is going to have to go back in. :( We have looked for jobs the past 6 months and it doesn't seem to matter that he has been in the military for 4 years and that he is pretty much a garunteed hard worker that will show up ontime with great qualifications. He calls, he goes in and still never gets the interview.

I have been looking as well and I have very limited job opportunities, because I have no training or schooling in anything. People always seem to want xp and well how can you get that if they won't hire you?

Quinten does have xp and it still doesn't seem to matter. I know the economy sucks right now but I just can't seem to figure out why we can't even get interviews.

We have no income what so ever at the moment and we can't pay bills. I have called the companies to let them know our situation but they still harass us. I'm tired of it.

I'm not sure where the delusion ever came from that serving in the military is a shoo-in for getting a job when done. However, serving is a job. What is stopping both you from joining and him from re-joining?

You should be able to collect on unemployment insurance, I'm pretty sure he was paying into it while he was in. That would be a little something.

That's the funny thing about utility companies - they want to be paid for the services you use. Is a cable subscription one of those pesky company utilities that are harassing you to pay them?

fishies-No we don't have cable, we watch movies! :) Car payments, credit card, phone service all of them.

machawkl-I know it wasn't a shoo-in, but you would think they would see it and at least want to discuss his qualifications. I know they may want something different, but they won't even call for an interview. We want to be close to family and each other. While he was in previously he miss our daughters birth, her birthdays and other special days. It just wasn't our ideal life. That is what is stopping us from going in, and I myself am not in shape, so I don't meet military standars. As far as getting in shape, I'm trying but it takes a lot to keep me motivated.

Anomalous- As far as unemployment he is recieving it and has been so its almost time for it to stop. :( Thats why I am so worried and posted this rant. Just really needed to vent.

I don't understand. He can get paid by the military if he goes back. No one is hiring right now, so another job is not possible at the moment. I don't see how he can't go back, if you need money to live, pay rent, pay debt, etc.

I can understand venting, but a military career does not guarantee work in the private sector.

Also, what sort of work are we talking about? Someone in the military could easily get into security, like any ex-cop. Perhaps the standards you set are too high.

Thats what he has applied for is security work, heck he applied for a job as a custodian. He's even applied to job postings at McDonalds and so have I. Its not lack of trying or setting standards to high. Its just the economy and the area we live. I understand that.

I was venting because that is what looks like we are going to do. He is going to go back in and I am upset by that because I hate all the time away from him. I wanted to be able to find jobs where we could be home as a family with our daughter every night. I don't want him to miss any more birthdays or mile stones.

I understand that because we can't find jobs that the military is the logical thing to do, and we will go back it just breaks my heart.

Nothing is forever, and it's honourable that he is willing to go back in order to provide for his family. Hopefully something else comes along first though.
