 convoy    2004-04-03 20:04:37 ET
we have 2 gigs today. We are playing 2 change of authority ceremonies. It should go well. We had more info put out than we recieved last time. Things on our Camp are pretty much the same. The convoy over here was smoothe. It is still surreal to see the environment in which I am in. Mortar attacks are extremely common. I don't even pay much attention to the shelling anymore. I think today I need to do some laundry. My uniforms are lookin a little dirty. Miss you all! <3<3<3<3 Thank you to all of you for supporting me :)

update: I'm currently located in Iraq now at Camp Victory north. We are currently living really close to the danger zone on camp. There are mortar attacks pretty much every night and the answer of U.S. troops small arms fire. I do, however, feel very safe and well trained. The mortars got really really close last night. It shook my trailer. From the hearsay of the other troops, those who attack the camp don't live very long. We played our first gig at the Airport today. Actually that is where I am right now. I had to use the computers here, because the internet at Camp Victory suxOr!! Hopefully it will improve soon, the Camp is still relatively new and MWR isn't well established yet. Our living quarters are nicer than the barracks on post back home!!! We live in 2 person rooms in small 6 person trailers built by Brown and Root (brand new!!!). At any rate, my frequency of posts on my page will be decreased for a bit until internet improves on Camp Victory, but I will post as often as I can. much love to all of you!

a sultry melody from my sax and 30 rounds of full metal jacket ammo    2004-03-27 22:18:25 ET
I practiced my sax for a bit yesterday. That was refreshing. I didn't realize how much I missed having a horn to my face. It was a new feeling to practice with a M16 and grenade launcher strapped to my back. Yesterday was great!!! We didn't do a daggone thing. I played gameboy, read my Bible, ate chow, heard a rock concert, and went to the px to buy some near-beer. I am really enjoying my job right now!! I really hope that we get to stay the whole year as planned. I ran into one of my buddies from my church group back home at the chapel this morning.
In other news, our admin clerk is going to get my promotion points calculated when we get to Baghdad. Sergeant Miller, that has a nice ring to it. I will get picked up, hopefully, soon after my points go 'hot'.
We are leaving in the next few days on our trip north. I will be out of contact possibly for a few days. Again, much love to all of you! Keep in touch. I'll post again tomorrow if at all possible.

I didn't realize that some of you guys weren't aware of Vasa and I being in the same unit. hahaha. He sleeps on a cot 3 feet from me. We are having a really good time. I'm sure that he will confirm, that the chow rocks our sox off! I'm eating so much, but I'm still losing weight I think. We walk everywhere, plus have PT, and not to mention its really hot out! At any rate, I hope you are all doing well. much love to you all!!! Pete
