I know food at events has always been expensive, but any time I get take-out or delivery now it's at least $40. The food isn't worth it, but... what are you gonna do?

Totally unrelated but this reminded me of the Big Mac index.

the most glaring thing the big mac index reveals these days is how mcdonald's seems to exclusively screw over americans the hardest with how low their wages are here yet how comparably stupid expensive their burgers have become here compared to literally everywhere else, especially when you factor in said wages.

TBF, though i don't know how this is in Yea Ole Midwest, i have ZERO fucking clue how mcdonald's even manages to stay in business out here in california. in-n-out, jack in the box, carl's jr, and pretty much literally everyone else for that matter, will get you WAY MORE food for WAY CHEAPER than mcdonald's, AND these other companies all pay and treat their employees way better too.

i noticed some youtube video a while back (that i didn't end up watching) that was titled something about how mcdonald's is actually a real estate company and not a food company, so maybe they have some convoluted / shady way of making money that's not even related to food sales, cause i sure as shit never eat at mcdonald's anymore when they've become so obscenely, insultingly overpriced compared to other fast food / burger chains that are way better than they are, and i have no idea how their stores even stay open out here.
