It's long, hence the cross-post.    2003-05-01 17:58:35 ET
So, I was going to write a huge entry recapping my visit back east, but I decided I would be airing too much dirty laundry about my family and friends. I did figure out some fundamental truths while home:
-some people change a lot in seven years, some don't.
-hicks, hillbillies, and rednecks can have Indiana. you couldn't pay me enough to live there again.
-I hate turbulence.
-if I wish to cut back with the smoking of green bud I shouldn't visit home.
-small town teenagers are somewhat more obnoxious than city teens.
-I can ride on the rear pegs of a bmx without killing myself. i used to doubt this.
-my little sister is incredibly cute and smart.
-IMHO, the areas of the mid-west that I visited seemed to have a serious lack of good looking men.

So...instead of posting a play-by-play of my life last week, I will post something that resembles my playlist from Flux last week:

skinny puppy - burnt with water
chris connelly - ignition times four
revolting cocks - attack ships on fire
kmfdm - help us, save us, take us away
my life with the thrill kill kult - leather sex
einstrezunde neubauten - die interimsliebenden
pigface - autohag
ministry - hizbollah
front 242 - until death(us do part)
nitzer ebb - lightning man
foetus - verklemmt

That first set represented my start in the g/i scene. The next will be where I'm at now. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to spin at least twice that night. But oh well, maybe next time. After all, there were four djs. Many thanks to all my friends that turned up for it, and many more to the people who packed the dancefloor. And most of all, thanks to Karen (Dj Ophelia) and that name-dropping bastard, Sean (Dj Burn), for making me come out of my shell and having me guest. My ex-boyfriend, Scooter, showed up and got some pictures of the night. If he ever sends them to me, I'll share.

Heh...I did get a request for Skinny Puppy "Warlock" from some girl that had no clue that I refuse to spin almost anything that is played at Embers on a weekly basis. People need to broaden their horizons and realize Skinny Puppy (among other bands) has more than four songs in their backcatalog. What am I getting myself in to?

On a totally unrelated note, just say "no" to tweek, kids. If I can do it, so can you. Nasty-ass shit...

The weather is beautiful. There is Portland Organic Wrestling tonight. And, I think I have officially accepted the fact that I will be 30 on Sunday. It will officially creepy if I date guys under the age of 21, not that I would date anyone under the age of 24 as it is. I NOW JOIN THE RANKS OF THE "UNTRUSTABLES"!

On one more totally unrelated note, Erin's Mac is still squirrelly about loading the forums. So if it looks like I'm ignoring my mod duties, it's because I'm frustrated with clicking on page 4 of a topic and being taken to page 1 whether I like it or not. Grrrr...I want my own PC. Grrrr...I want my radio show back.

Hmmmm...Soccerballs is looking like he is not feeling well again.

Here I am in my hometown. So much has changed. So much to write about, but that should wait till I get home. I was caught outside in the first thunderstorm I've seen in five years, got soaked to the knees but loved it anyway. I'll do my best to recap my trip when I get home. So far it's been surreal.

To go to or not to go to Embers tonight. Maybe I should just be good, write out my bills, do my laundry. Besides my archnemisis will be out tonight and I still can't stand to look at him. I'll be better off staying home.

Odd. I just got off the phone with my uncle in Michigan. I had no idea he helped design the special edition Book of the Dead edition of Evil Dead. Tom Sullivan, the special effects artist from the movie, lives just across the hall from him. Wow, I am less than seven degrees connected to everyone involved with Evil Dead yo.

This whole trip to Michigan could have been planned better. It turns out Aunt Lyn and Grandma Hardy wont even be there when I fly in on Saturday as they drove back yesterday without getting a hold of me. My Grandpa's wife will be picking me up in Detroit instead. Three days in Marshall, three in Ft. Waste...

Things to do before I leave for a week:
-write out bills
-get our garbage service reinstated
-pick up cat food for Soccerballs
-go to Devorzum (sp?) because I promised Miss Brandy I would (luv you!)
-mow the lawn
-go to Spring Brew Fest

Once again, RIP subkultures.net. I crosspost too much anyway.

I just found out as of May 15th sk.net will no longer exist. A quick trip to m0xie's page confirmed it. I'll miss you guys. My livejournal link is in my bio if anyone also on lj hasn't added me to their buddylists.
