poetry. and stuff.

I realized recently that I haven't posted any of my poetry.

... or much of anything, for that matter.

so here's some shit -

Bird on the Ledge
a tiny brown thrush,
caught in the snow
looking for warmth,
does he know where to go?
a bird just sitting,
flakes falling down
looking for a way in
out of the cold

he taps at my window
I want to let him in
it's not something you do,
though.

there's something inside
he wants it so bad
but the window's standing strong.
must find another way around
he takes wing and dodges the flakes
as the wind takes him
where he needs to go.

My girlfriend's poem
(we're trading, to see what we can do with words someone else gave us.)

Passe vaults of ordinary,
boring and forced by decision,
need not apply to me.

alone in a crowd of outsiders
I stand seperated by indifference
I don't care that I am.

a biting chill
from the cold night air.
there's blood on the snow,
and I don't care.

a stench on the wind
it's only rotting flesh
I'm allowed the bread
but hide it, nevertheless.

It's tough to live
when everyone dies
but you must keep on
for the sake of their lives.

I Should Be Allowed To Think
2003-02-15 22:45:34 ET

I saw the best minds of my generation
Destroyed by madness, starving, hysterical
I should be allowed to glue my poster
I should be allowed to think

I should be allowed to glue my poster
I should be allowed to think
I should be allowed to think
I should be allowed to think
And I should be allowed to blurt the merest idea
If by random whim, one occurs to me
If necessary, leave paper stains on the grey utility pole

I saw the worst bands of my generation
applied by magic marker to dry wall
I should be allowed to shoot my mouth off
I should have a call in show

I should be allowed to glue my poster
I should be allowed to think
I should be allowed to think
I should be allowed to think
And I should be allowed to blurt the merest idea
If by random whim, one occurs to me
If necessary, leave paper stains on the grey utility pole

I am not allowed
To ever come up with a single original thought
I am not allowed
To meet the criminal government agent who oppresses me

I was the worst hope of my generation
Destroyed by madness, starving, hysterical
I should be allowed to share my feelings
I should be allowed to feel

I should be allowed to glue my poster
I should be allowed to think
I should be allowed to think
I should be allowed to think
And I should be allowed to blurt the merest idea
If by random whim one occurs to me
But sadly, this can never be

I am not allowed to think

Damn the Man.

Yeah, so my roomate & I were lined up to DJ part of tonights campus dance - 2:30am.

but because of posters that we hung up, advertising our slot, they said that we weren't allowed to DJ.

Come on! all we said was that if you were drunk & had no where to go, you could come by and see us - Late Night!

But they said it was inappropriate,
and wouldn't let us play our ska music and chase everyone away.
When we showed up, there was even a guy there telling us that he was looking forward to hearing some ska.
But he was left un-fulfilled.

because of The Man.

Amplified is a political agenda.
