Even lifeguards need saving sometimes    2004-11-23 12:33:21 ET
Yay, dolphins!

Or maybe it's just that they wanted to eat the humans themselves - but I'm feeling optimistic today.

Thank you, veterans dead and living...    2004-11-11 09:09:01 ET

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

- John McCrae, 1915

Workers of the world, get angsty!    2004-11-09 10:33:06 ET

From my work e-mail yesterday:

"In response to Bell's initiatives on outsourcing, contracting and closures, the CTEA is calling for the support of its membership to send a clear message to the company.

All clerical employees, members of the CTEA, are invited to wear black clothes and the 'Keep Jobs at Bell' stickers on Wednesday, November 10, 2004."

Good thing for those stickers or nobody's going to have any idea that I'm doing anything different and protesting.

You know you're in a white-collar union when instead of striking or doing anything else confrontational, you make a fashion statement and wear stickers. :-P

Let your failing heart show off its feminine side with cardiac pantyhose!

Only available in white fishnet, it seems. Shame.

What are you people on? Can I have some when I'm not operating heavy equipment or voting?
