2005-04-14 02:15:50 ET Being trapped inside on a Sunny day is like being trapped inside on a sunny day. Poetry is stupid.

I wrote this one awhile ago, and just re-read it. If I already posted it, I apologize. | |
2005-04-14 02:15:15 ET Friday came so quickly after a week or two or three see, it's not Friday unless you're there to share the night with me. it's just another Wednesday, like the 7 that came before eat sleep work bathe and still you ain't at my door. You ain't at my door and you ain't on my phone and you ain't on the road far away from my home time is a strange concept my friend to measure our own decay it's fast as molasses on the day's we're away or it can fly by like the dreams in the night when I know you're on your way. We make up jobs to take up time and tv to distract our minds from missing our loved ones so far away or the loss of reason to be. Meaning of life is meaningless it's what you decide for yourself. Give yourself a reason to be and time will shape itself around your dreams and hopes and desires and the things you do to fill up your time as long as you believe it's why you're put here the waiting is truly a breeze. |

Dollar & A Dream | |
2005-04-09 09:30:50 ET I had a dollar I wanted to save. Safe in my pocket, I'll try to hold fast. Hey! It might be my last. I know what I've got folded safe in its spot. I earned a dollar, it's not here to share. I've got a dollar and that's all I've got. A million more is just a single grain. A grain of sand or just one drop of rain. A small amount might make the difference these days. A dollar and a dream is all I could raise. I had a dream I had all the answers To all the questions I've ever asked myself, Man, what a dream, it sure felt great. Took to the streets 'cause I couldn't wait. To freely give wisdom and share what I know. I had a dream and that's all I had. A million here lay down to dream each night, A million there to stay alive must fight. I'm sure my numbers underestimate. A dollar and a dream, I swear it's not too late. I had a dollar I wanted to save. Deep in my pocket, I held fast. A dollar bill that I would take to my grave, Deep in my pocket like it was my last. Look for the dollar, now it's not there, Even the pants are a different pair. I earned the dollar! I had to share! I had a dollar and that's all I had! A million more is just a star in the sky. Tip of the iceberg but we've all got to try. Our work's cut out and there's work to be done. A dollar and a dream is step number, step number one. - Barrett / Bosstones |
Common People | |
2005-04-04 14:36:11 ET She came from Greece, she had a thirst for knowledge. She studied sculpture at Saint Martin's College. That's where I caught her eye. She told me that her Dad was loaded. I said, in that case I'll have a rum and coca-cola. She said fine, and in thirty seconds time she said, I want to live like common people. I want to do whatever common people do. I want to sleep with common people. I want to sleep with common people, like you. Well, what else could I do? I said, I'll see what I can do. I took her to a supermarket. I don't know why, but I had to start it somewhere, so it started there. I said, pretend you've got no money. She just laughed, and said oh you're so funny. I said, yeah? Well, I can't see anyone else smiling in here. Are you sure you want to live like common people? You want to see whatever common people see? You want to sleep with common people? You want to sleep with common people, like me? But, she didn't understand, She just smiled and held my hand. Rent a flat above a shop. Cut your hair and get a job. Smoke some fags and play some pool. Pretend you never went to school. But still, you'll never get it right. When you're lying in bed at night watching roaches climb the wall, if you called your Dad he could stop it all. Yeah. You'll never live like common people You'll never do whatever common people do. You'll never fail like common people. You'll never watch your life slide out of view, and dance and drink and screw because there's nothing else to do. Sing along with the common people. Sing along, and it might just get you thru.' Laugh along with the common people. Laugh along, even though they're laughing at you and the stupid things that you do 'cause you think that poor is cool. Like a dog lying in a corner, they'll bite you and never warn you. Look out. They'll tear your insides out 'cause everybody hates a tourist. 'Cause Everybody hates a tourist, especially one who thinks it's all such a laugh. Yeah, and the chip stains' grease will come out in the bath. You will never understand how it feels to live your life with no meaning or control and with nowhere left to go. You're amazed that they exist and they burn so bright, while you can only wonder why. Rent a flat above a shop. Cut your hair and get a job. Smoke some fags and play some pool. Pretend you never went to school. But still, you'll never get it right. 'Cause When you're lying in bed at night watching roaches climb the wall, if you called your Dad he could stop it all. Yeah. You'll never live like common people You'll never do what common people do. You'll never fail like common people. You'll never watch your life slide out of view and dance and drink and screw because there's nothing else to do. I want to sing with common people, like you. I want to sing with common people, like you. I want to sing with common people, like you. - William Shatner, Jarvis, & Pulp
