It's cold out there in Brooklyn.2009-02-01 10:35:50 ET

So last night I go see my friend's band, ゼラチン, in Brooklyn at a place called BPM. It's kind of a loft space venue. My friend Jun is a bit particular on how to pronounce the band's name. The band name is "Gelatine" but pronounce it basically "zerachin" which is basically how you pronounce gelatin in Japanese. It was their CD release event, finally an album after such a long while.

Their music is pretty unusual and crazy, but that's how they are. Good friends of mine and known them for quite a while. I'll be helping them get distribution for their album in Japan. Oh, I ran into my friend Tony from echostream, he was hanging out for a bit, the night before he has to go to Boston for the first show his band is doing with BLOOD and SiSen. Here's hoping things go well with him and the rest of the members of his band who are also personal acquaintances of mine.

Other news of the night, ゼラチン played with a band called Geist from Baltimore. Who obviously have influences in VK(visual kei). I think they have a pretty good sound and decent potential, but I have one gripe. All their songs are in Japanese.

With their lead vocalist being an American with minimal background in the language(basically learned from watching variety shows or something as she said last night), it kind of bothers me. I don't see something terribly wrong, it's just well, can you try to do songs in English? Right now it seems too much like imitation than really creating something. Even bands in Japan that have a good amount of songs in English in their catalog still have plenty of songs in Japanese as well. At this current rate, you're aiming at a niche market that for the most part doesn't support their artists.(Article reference)

But, I digress. It's Superbowl Sunday, and I will probably be going to my friend Mike's place. He usually buys a bunch of food. And has a bunch of people over. No ridic TV, but has a bunch of older consoles to mess around on during breaks. Before that I should be working on my Ethical Hacking HW, but I'm not, I suck.

Weird.2009-01-31 05:54:04 ET

So, some backstory. In my first post, Jimmy commented something about sticking a needle in my eye. Which is basically related to some health issues I had back in December. Basically, my right eye was suffering from macular degeneration. Basically, new blood vessels were growing in my eye causing me to lose my vision. The latest treatment for this is getting an injection directly in my eye of some medication, either avastin or lucentis.

The treatment has returned my vision to normal for the most part. I have suffered minor loss of low light vision. I had my second injection in the beginning of January and have to go back in 2 months for another possible injection.

My vision is normal, but lately I've noticed like random events of a hair-like figure in my vision. Basically looks something like if you have a black hair on one of you're glasses lenses. Except it's not stationary, if I move the direct of my eye it kinda moves around like it's floating in my eye. I think I might call my doctor about it. I didn't experience this with my first injection. Then again for a good part of my first injection my vision wasn't exactly normal.

BRAR!2009-01-30 20:32:17 ET

So my biceps are sore from my workout the other day. Can't keep my arms straight. And got some weird indigestion too.

Tomorrow is lunch with some associates at some Japanese restaurant, then at night going to see a friend's band in Brooklyn. It's their CD release show. I hope my arms aren't bothering me much tomorrow, I took a day off from the gym today and don't feel like making that a habit.

I watched The Wrestler today, I didn't find it to be all that great. It was ok, but well the characters seemed formulaic, and Randy's daughter sure changed her mind quickly about her dad after that coat. Seemed kinda shallow to me. Marisa Tomei naked was pretty win though. Maybe I've seen too many wrestling docus.

I can't find my screwdriver, I want to build this coat stand I bought.

Whoooo no class tonight!2009-01-28 07:47:39 ET

So I go to log in to my college's student website thingamajig, and see that my finance prof sent a notice that he's out sick. Would've been nice to send out an email or post on WebCT, but I guess that was too hard.

The weather sux out, but at least now I can go to the gym later without staring at the clock, and maybe I can get some laundry done which I was holding off til tomorrow afternoon after my marketing class.(ugh why do I have to do crap like marketing and finance for my major)

That finance class really annoyed me last night having to pay to submit my homework, and the prof provided false info about one of the buying options. There's a $20 option to use the Homework Manager, and a $65 option that is suppose to provide an ebook copy. But their idea of an ebook, is using their cumbersome website and forcibly reading the book page by page off their site, not a PDF or anything. (Even though they offer PDFs of the first 3 chapters to everyone). Now I gotta wait til tomorrow to get a refund, since I called today and they're like "we can't do a partial refund, so you'll have to buy the $20 key and call back tomorrow when the order is in our system so we can cancel out the $65 purchase." LAME! Hate you McGraw-Hill.

By the time I was done with the homework last night it was like 9. So instead of making a decent dinner I made a chicken salad. Granted it's a meal, but I consider it more of a lunch than a dinner.

I gotta map out an upper body workout for the gym. I use to know a good site that showed you all these exercises and what muscles they work, but I don't remember what it was called.

First post!2009-01-27 13:54:36 ET

Well, just joined today. My friend, Jimmy, has been bugging me to join for several weeks. Haven't had much time today to do much, since running errands and grocery shopping and going to the gym. Yes, going to the gym. First time in probably a few years. Lost 50 lbs over the course of last year being a lazy ass, now kicking it up a notch to try and reach my goal of 190lbs. Currently at 210. The Japan gallery photos is when I was probably 240-245lbs.

One thing that sux with all this weight loss gonna have to get some new wardrobe sometime. Sometimes have trouble with pants while wearing a belt, cause the excess fabric in the waist line.

Started my classes for Spring at NJIT last week, already had a HW assignment due last Sunday and have one due later tonight. I don't have any of my books yet and trying to survive trying to find e-book versions for cheapest possible price.

Not sure what to make for dinner tonight, I have 2 boneless chicken breasts in my fridge, one soaking in teriyaki marinade, the other in lemon pepper marinade. Which to choose...
