The Doctor is IN    2002-07-04 16:58:42 ET
To the "tune", such as it is of Dr. Thodt, by Wumpscut:

They love him in the childrens' bookstore
Bemused with butter battling
Strangely tufted trees
And elephants on eggs

Stories never getting old
Dr. Seuss

Stories never getting old
Dr. Seuss

Stories never getting old
Dr. Seuss

Stories never getting old
Dr. Seuss

Oh the things that you will see
Felines in millinery
Ham and eggs in verdegris
I need Who-Hash

Stories never getting old
Dr. Seuss
Stories never getting old
Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss

Stories never getting old
Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss (repeat umpteen times)

Praise be to the Air Conditioner!    2002-07-02 12:11:33 ET
It is HOT out. Stepping outside is like suddenly drowning in a hot tub. The humidity and smog don't lessen this feeling any.
I think I will take myself for ice cream after work - then go home and perhaps start packing some stuff away for my move later this summer. It will happen in the next couple of months (if I actually get around to finding a place...my friend is being SLOOOOOOOOW about speaking with his landlord about the apartment upstairs from him, in a very convenient location) and that time will go by sooner than I think.

Lunch could have been so much more fun...    2002-06-20 10:54:24 ET
I walked past some people in big green cylindrical costumes that looked like punching bags with running shoes giving out sample frappucinos outside Starbucks. I was so tempted to tip one over onto another one, triggering a chain reaction of Starbucks mascot collapse. My better side prevailed. Damn.

As for lunch, it was Shanghai noodles with General Tso's chicken and beef with broccoli.

 Yay, raise-o-rama!    2002-06-06 16:49:54 ET
So the final proposed collective agreement for me and my 13,000 closest co-workers was revealed yesterday and it looks pretty good. Between the base increase and my next steps up the wage scale, I'll be getting a raise of 16% this year and 13% next year. :) As long as I keep doing my job well, I'm all set to get a new apartment. Whee!

I started yet ANOTHER course today - this one an on-line course at work for SQL Server administration. All this education will make my head explode. Ew...bits of bone with shaved scalp attached and a blood/brain paste everywhere. I can solve your interior decoration dilemmas today! Just give me another book...

Neva is a river in Russia    2002-05-18 21:20:14 ET
What a sucky week I've had. It rained ALL THE TIME, I got sick and missed a day of work, and I generally felt really bad about myself. I'm feeling somewhat better emotionally and physically now, but wow, around Tuesday and Wednesday was bad. Glad it's over.

Now I can immerse myself again wholeheartedly into work where I'm in the middle of putting together a database and mass communications theory for my course at school. 800+ pages of reading, three assignments and an exam to be done over the next three months. I am going to have NO LIFE very soon. Well, as if I have one now. :) I may have to strike that line from my biography above about finding me most weekends in a club. Damn.
