taupo and the rain that wouldnt stop    2004-06-17 17:35:32 ET
so after last night i had a really interasting chat with this guy from gahna, i went out to look for a proper pub in napier.
offcourse i didnt find one.
so first thing this morning i went out to the highway and held up my thumb. 5 minuetes later i was riding around with this cool maori dude on my way to taupo. we talked all the way about religion, politics, why humans are usually just a pile of self-distructive crap, and before i even noticed he asked me where in town i want to go.
i love hitch-hiking.
i dont love rain.
like right now.

damn evil water.

Napier... and some random thoughts about memories.    2004-06-16 17:38:27 ET
i'm in napier right now, sitting at the lounge of this big art-deco styled hotel that turned into a hostel over the years. actually this whole town is like a little architechional bubble: a mega-earthquake distroied the entire town on the 30's and it was rebuilt in three years during the big art deco phaze, so its arches, ornaments and paste all over the place...
walking up bluff hill today to get to the lookout i started thinking: how the hell can i record my memories? to put them down, share them, pass them on? because its so much more then a sum of info; its the feeling, the small details... the guitar reef that bursted out of my headphones the second i got to the hilltop, the bone-chilling loneliness the moment you get off the airplane in a new place, the wormth of excitment that replaces it after a few seconds, the delightful pain in my bashed ancles after walking 20 km, LOOKING AT THE SKY...
its the things that you forget only a few seconds after you sense them... but thats the stuff memories are made of...
how's that for a paradox?:)

take care

hmmm... whats new?    2004-06-14 02:54:41 ET
alot, i guess.
right now i'm in windy welington, new zealand, after some stomping and grinding in the south island of NZ...
guess i just wanted to get away from oz all of the sudden so i took a flight to christchurch and met up with my friend idan and we headed off in his car. went to mount cook, did the able tasman track, and then we arrived at picton. idan wanted to stay and work, and i finally decided after a few days that prouning vanyards isnt my main goal right now, so here i am on my own again :)
new zealand is SOOOOOO fuck'n unbelivable... its like waking up inside a photograph every singal day...
i'm still waiting for that life-changing moment though.
something that will hit me on the head... cause the saddest thing i learn by now is that you can run away to the other side of the world but you sure as hell cant run away from yourself *enter bitter smile*
but every day is a fuck'n new experience... and i will find the getaway eventually, thats for sure :)

with lotsa love
itay

oh, btw, there's lotssa new pix up in the site.

so right now i'm in sydney for about a week or so now... sydney is lots of fun, though i'm thinking about going down to new zealand in about a week or so, mainly to meet a friend but also because most of the other travelers i meet here are either boring or stupid drunk asses.
guess i'll know in a couple of days.
in the meantime, i uploaded some pix to my www.imagestation.com site... check it out.
account name is itay242.
no worries!
