"We're ball-deep in America now." aka Big City Dreams

you live in the town where
your grandparents are buried
down the street from the hospital
where you were born
One town over you eat dinner
in the same hall your parents danced
on their wedding night.
At the church bazzar
you know every face
Counting the mullets and teeny boppers
Proud of your town
never walk the streets at night
Even though there's only tow,
you know the best Pizza joint in town.
Wanderlust growing,
you wonder how you could ever leave
SmallTown America, Hometown Vibes
Big City Jitters.

I could live here with you
get a house on the outskirts
drive into town for Ice Cream
with the kids
work with the Church Council
lead our respective scout troops
see our daughter dance in that same hall
come back for the buffet next Friday
Learn everyone's face,
shake everyone's hand in
Small Town America, A safe home
a safe distance from the City

Wouldn't take long, though
till the cabin-fever you felt as a child would force me to leave
I'd know what the Boss meant
in all those "born to Run" songs
But I'd stay with you, in spirit
and in love,
in that Small Town Amereica,
with my hometown girl,
and my Big City dreams.

my heart is breaking, but the guy next door don't care.
Neither does the lady down the block giving the cats a treat cause the dog was good on his walk.
But do I blame them?
not when I don't know thier troubles, and know nothing of their pain.
His business may be bankrupt
her lonliness too hard to bear,
But I stay with my pain and cry myself to sleep
While the couple next door
kill thier marriage watching TV
and a cop spills coffee on his paperwork
while driving his beat
I have my troubles and you have yours
the world moves along regaurdless
Individuals in a mass society
all moving along on our own,
no communication, no thought to the other's story
8 million can live within 10 miles,
and never nod to one another on the street
who knows where anyone goes?
who knows anyone's tale?
suffering, indecision, jubilation, salvation,
who knows?
who knows

Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are

I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart

Tell me your secrets
And ask me your questions
Oh let's go back to the start

Running in circles
Coming in tales
Heads on a science apart

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard

Oh take me back to the start

I was just guessing
At numbers and figures
Pulling your puzzles apart

Questions of science
Science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart

Tell me you love me
Come back and haunt me
Oh and I rush to the start

Running in circles
Chasing tails
And coming back as we are

Nobody said it was easy
Oh it's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard

I'm going back to the start

Well, I got me an non-paying internship at a production company in New York City.

so, as far as I know, for the next 2 months, I'll be commuting to NYC 3 times a week.

What a weird, fucked up world.

Three days
on the line
waiting for the call
a job
a girl
the governor
tired of staring at these walls
try to be proactive?
or wait another night?
who'll blink first?
who'll answer?
you know that you were right.
do you rage against the machine?
or the dying of the light?
Everyone's got something they're waiting for
Some things are weightier than others
to the unemployed
the criminal
or to our star-crossed lovers
Now what do you do?
say "you never know" and "Let It Be?"
Well, the Beatles were wrong about Love,
it isn't all you need.
So who said they knew anything?
Probably them, and we believed.
But the time has come, the Walrus said,
to talk of many things
of taking up guns and petitions
of thinking about wedding rings
to practise hitting an unarmed man
to know what must be done
It's time to pray to God
that you stand strong when it comes
to make the choice on your own.
You can't hang from a string
held up by others
Be who you are
going to be
your own boss
your own judge
your own love & security
and in the end...
(more Beatles' crap?)
You and God will see.
