"A Lesson In Logic"

This guy has some very good points about what happens when one dares to criticize Linux, even if it's entirely constructive and valid critisizm.

That guy got burned.

And what am I doing? Partying? Going out with friends? Romancing and dancing?

Nope, I'm at home, finishing up my analysis of Solaris 9 (x86) versus RedHat Linux 9.

So far some interesting results. For the most of the metrics I've tested, Solaris holds a slight performance edge over Linux, but not by much. However, in web operations, Linux can handle about double the rate of incoming connections, making it twice as bad-ass.

I had thought that Solaris might come out ahead in most of these scenarios, especially the web operations, since Solaris has a reknowned rock-solid networking stack.

New Speakers

So my speakers are finally showing their age. They should, after all they're older than I am. My rather got them while serving in Vietnam.

I'm thinking about getting a pair of Bose Series 3 speakers. They're the tiny little box speakers, about 3 inches cubed doubled up, but they sound enourmous. I'm checking eBay now.

Pregnant?
2003-08-25 10:08:11 ET

Someone on here (whom I don't know their identify) asked someone I do know to ask me if I got a girl pregnant. What the fuck? Of course not. That's really creepy.

If you want to know, ask me.

Mmm... Virus
2003-08-24 21:51:59 ET

So it turns out I got myself the Welchia worm. I don't normally worry about such worms, as I've got a Linux firewall. What I didn't take into account was that when I'm connected through my work's VPN, I'm exposed to the office LAN, which is full of nasties, and I subsequently caught Welchia. I found it by noticing some odd outbound connections that shouldn't have been there. Kind of creepy.
