Duck Resque 2005    2005-04-22 05:36:39 ET
Life has been a littly exciting lately.
The house two doors down caught fire. No one was hurt thankfully. The police had my street blocked off at both sides, so I parked on the side street behind some news crews and hurridly approached my home house to find it safe. My boys were all in the basement at the time and because of being so into the computer game they were all playing, they never noticed anything! Unfortunalty for me, whose live on the third floor with the window nearest to the incident, my window was open at the time and now everything in my room smells like smoke, blah. I'm still working on cleaning.
I've been working hard with school and my two jobs. Only two weeks until Finals and then I'll get to enjoy my summer break! Yay!
Leaving my bedroom window open also allowed for some heavy wind gusts as well and I found all of the little ducks I had sitting on the sill to have fallen down under the window, behind the dresser. I had to exercise a mass retrieval but now everyone is safe and back in their place.

This morning I had to have my third pap for this year alone. I know...TMI. But I HAVE to complain, at least for a little bit. The results of this last one will tell me if I have to get some serious testing done. They found abnormal cells on the last two, but the nurse said that it happens pretty often, goes away on its own, is so not serious that there is not a name for it, and is not a result of lifestyle choices. I'm a little worried, but not too much, I just HATE having to do the testing.

In other, less personal news: School is winding down and I cannot wait for the semester to end. I'm spending the summer in my hometown, so it will be nice to see everyone.

 Bad Day    2005-04-08 21:38:43 ET
Jo lost her job because of the fuckwits that worked under her.

Matt lost his job because the fuckwits he worked for didn't want to give him a raise for working there so long, they would rather higher someone new at entry pay.

Stephanie lost her job because her supervisor was fucking the head of security (vague, I know).

Cindy lost her backpack, including irreplaceble papers, credit cards, and keys (including our house and office), because a careless TA did not lock up the school van and the Meth addicts found that all too tempting.

My sister was in a car accident in Tucson today. She is ok, the truck is dead.

I feel lost in the fact that there is not much that I can do to help any of them other than to be that silent understanding person they can speak to.

In other, better, news: I found out today that I got a grant for fall 2005 for $710. Every little bit helps.

Here's a sad thought: A man here in Flagstaff was told a few days ago that he was going to be getting his Master's Degree this may. The same day, his wife told him that she was pregnant with their first child. He was in such a happy mood he decided to go out for a bike ride. During his ride he was hit by a drunk driver and killed. Make's you think, eh?

You scored as Buddhism. Your beliefs most closely resemble those of Buddhism. Do more research on Buddhism and possibly consider becoming Buddhist, if you are not already.

In Buddhism, there are Four Noble Truths: (1) Life is suffering. (2) All suffering is caused by ignorance of the nature of reality and the craving, attachment, and grasping that result from such ignorance. (3) Suffering can be ended by overcoming ignorance and attachment. (4) The path to the suppression of suffering is the Noble Eightfold Path, which consists of right views, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right-mindedness, and right contemplation. These eight are usually divided into three categories that base the Buddhist faith: morality, wisdom, and samadhi, or concentration. In Buddhism, there is no hierarchy, nor caste system; the Buddha taught that one's spiritual worth is not based on birth.

 Today's quotes    2005-03-03 07:01:58 ET
"We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole multi colored collection of uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. "
~FALILV, Thompson

"Long story short, I made this for you, bead-by-bead, to demonstrate the "Denny" metaphor from my book, Choke. How all big projects are just a lot of small tasks done job-by-job. Word-by-word. Moment-by-moment. And to demonstrate how your greatest "talent" can be stubborness, and just not stopping..."
~concerning the necklace he made me, from his letter, Chuck Palahnuik

"I agree. That is a great idea. All we've got to do is jump up over that 100-foot waterfall, swim upstream 20 miles, get the sheriff on the phone... he liked us, I remember. And he'll send out a rescue boat. And... hey, there's a beer in the river. Cool."
~Don't ask

"Matt: Do you want the big one or the strap-on?
Dan: Oh, definalty the strap-on."

I just recieved one of the best packages in the mail ever. Back in November I wrote to one of my favorite authors, Check Palahnuik. Today i looked in the mailbox to find a package from him containing a letter, signed copy of his book Fight Club, a little duckie, a dalmation, a wealth of little Valentine's Day gifts, and a necklace the letter said that he made.
My day has been made.

More details later.

RIP Hunter S Thompson.

Estrella War was wet but great. Jo and Matt's wedding was beautiful and emotional. I broke my one year stroke of celebacy. And I got a new hat.

More later.

I started my second job just a few days ago. My first job is at the Social Research Lab on NAU campus. I do phone interviewing, sorry if I'm the one who bugs you in the middle of dinner.

My second job is at Disabilty Support Services. I work in the Alternative Formate Program. Basically I either arrange to get alternative format copies of texts for students or make them with my happy little scanner, computer, and embosser (I know I spelled that wrong, and it's a loud son of a bitch!).

Both jobs have thier perks. And they both can be lots of fun sometimes.

I'm currently playing Mamma my roomates dog. She's well behaved but gets up way too early for me to let her back out.

Not much else happening. Just a lot of Mia stuff.

 Roomate story #1    2004-09-11 11:36:09 ET
I'm standing in the kitchen gathering stuff to make dinner when my roomate Rico wanders in. He steps up to the pantry and pathetically paws around a bit before asking me if we had any peanut butter in the house. Alas! No PB. He gives a sad look and mentions that he thought a pb sandwich would be good for dinner.

"Oh, I'm making dinner right now, it should be done in about half an hour." I say cutting chicken from the bone.

At which he turns to me and says:

"Do you want sex now or later?"

I love cooking for people who appreciate it.
